22nd Annual Red Dress Run

Saturday, August 13, 2016, gates open around 9am with race starting around 11:30am.

Race begins at Armstrong Park
New Orleans is famous for a lot of events, but the Red Dress Run is one event that certainly stands out. During August, the French Quarter is filled with men and women wearing red dresses. You will see people in tutus, suits, costumes and they will all be in red. Some are even daring enough to wear heels for the run.

So, why does everyone do this? ….To Support 100s of local charities.

Every year the “Hash House Harriers”, a self-proclaimed “drinking club with a running problem,” hosts The Red Dress Run throughout the famous French Quarter. This event open to men and women and benefits 100s of local charities. This is the 22nd year that the Red Dress Run will run and it typically begins around 11:30am but runners gather at 9am in Louis Armstrong Park. Runners will receive unlimited beer, food and live music by The Topcats and The Mixed Nuts. From there, the runners will begin to strut, run, and dance through the French Quarter in all sorts of Red Dress Styles. Last year, this group raised over $169,000 which went to support local charities.

Remember, there are very few rules for this run but a red dress of some kind is required. And apparently it is very important to wear a different red dress every year.

Mulate’s would love for everyone to stop by and show us your red dresses. After a long morning of running, a bite to eat may be a great addition to finish off your day. Can’t wait to see everyone.
