Get ready Louisiana, young entrepreneurs are going to hit the Louisiana street corners to sell lemonade. Lemonade Day is on May 6, 2017. The foremost objective of Lemonade Day is to empower youth to take ownership of their lives and become productive members of society – the business leaders, social advocates, volunteers, and forward thinking citizens of tomorrow.
What do kids learn from Lemonade Day?
-Set Goals – The kid learn to think and plan a business and set goals. What is a realist goal? What is a good price? Where should we set up shop?
-Learn How To Sell – The kids learn how to differentiate their product(s) from the competition. They will learn how to sell.
-Value of Money – The kids will first learn how to make change. Then, they will learn what can be done with that money whether it is to donate it or purchase something. They may even learn how to part with their own money to make that purchase.
How do I participate?
There are many different ways that Louisiana Kids can participate in Lemonade day. Some Lemonade stand participants will register on the Website. Each child that registers receives a backpack with an Entrepreneur Workbook that teaches them the 15 lessons of Lemonade Day including creating budgets, setting profit-making goals, serving customers, repaying investors, and giving back to the community. Start a business it can be Fun.
Parents can work with their kids to determine their business plan, but some kids may already have a plan. They will determine a budget, create a recipe, design a stand, purchase all of the ingredients and supplies, and find a location. Once this is complete, it is time to sell and have a lot of fun together.
