A day at the races has taken a new form at the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.
A day at the Wiener Dog Races
On Saturday, March 4, 2017, starting at 1:25 pm until 7pm, the Wiener Dog Racing is coming to town. Instead of large horses, 48 pure-bred dachshunds will be on the race track. There will be four heats of twelve dogs apiece. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of each of the four heats will compete in a final race to determine the champion. Top finishers will receive cash prizes with goodie baskets valued at $100 with the overall winner taking home $500 cash.
Fun for the entire family
This can be fun for the entire family because the New Orleans Fair Grounds are open to children and kids 12 and under are admitted for free. So, if you are looking for something to do on the weekend after Mardi Gras, don’t worry, there is lots to do for the entire family.
General admission for wiener dog racing will be $5, with standard $10 clubhouse admission. Kids 12 and under will be admitted free. Click here for more information.
At Mulate’s Cajun Restaurant, we love to talk about all of the wonderful things going on in the city including the Wiener Dog Races. We hope that you enjoy a day at the races and maybe you can stop by the restaurant for a great Cajun meal for dinner.
